Emmy Winner -- "Command Performance: KISS"

Terry Turner produced, directed and edited this Emmy-winning episode of Command Performance for the Pentagon Channel. The interview with band members of the legendary rock group KISS was recorded at Rodeo Houston.

"Command Performance: Kiss" was recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, National Capital/Chesapeake Bay Chapter as an Emmy winner in 2012.

Turner co-created Command Performance as a multi-platform (broadcast, Web, mobile & social media) feature for The Pentagon Channel. He produced more than 100 episodes and Command Performance became the first feature to bump the President's Weekly Address from the #1 spot on iTunes Top Ten Podcasts for Government & Organizations.

Field Producing & Editing - "From Battlefield to Ball Field"

This package is part of TPC's coverage of the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team -- service members who lost limbs in combat or major accidents who now tour the country, playing softball games and sharing their message of recovery with veterans and the general public at large.


In this package, team members talk about their battlefield injuries and how teamwork and playing softball has helped them recover from life-changing wounds.

Hosting & Anchoring -- "Studio 5: Veterans of Valor"

Terry "Tex" Turner guest hosts this episode of TPC's "Studio 5" interview program. The guests are six Vietnam veterans who appeared in an Army documentary, "Veterans of Valor," marking the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

1LT Neil Prakash, Part 1


1LT Neil Prakash led a tank column into an urban fight in Iraq. Insurgents threw everything at his tank, hoping to stop it and block the whole column.

After an hour of pounding from RPGs, 1LT Prakash's turret seized up, and the insurgents moved in for the kill.

GySgt Courville led his men to rescue fellow Marines and an Iraqi family in two urban battles in Iraq -- "almost like playing rugby while people were shooting at you."


Thursday

HEROES: HM3 Luis Fonseca


HM3 Fonseca was awarded the Navy Cross -- the second highest award behind the Medal of Honor -- for saving the lives of five Marines in the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

HEROES: SFC James Brasher


SFC Brasher led his men in close quarter fighting through an Afghan village filled with Taliban fighters for which he received the Silver Star.



Wednesday

HEROES: SPC Joseph Gibson


SPC Gibson was awarded the Silver Star after dragging a wounded comrade to safety and fighting hand to hand with a suicide bomber.
